Apartándonos un poco de la escena rockera que ha caracterizado este blog desde sus inicios, les presento una faceta desconocida por muchos. Hace treinta años, cuando yo tenía la edad de mi hija, la música disco imperaba. Crecí entre Donna Summer y Gloria Gaynor, las divas de las discotecas, cuando las bolas de espejos coronaban los cielos rasos y las mujeres no se vestian impudicamente para desviar la atención de la falta de talento.

Escuchen las voces magistrales, la instrumentalización prodigiosa y la entrega en el escenario de estas divas.

Donna Summer es una interprete y compositora afroamericana que reinó durante la década de los setenta. Entre sus temas más brillantes está Hot Stuff, To love you baby, Bad Girls. Su potente voz y su manejo escénico la mantienen hasta la actualidad dominando su nicho. Les presento mi canción preferida.

Gloria Gaynor es una cantante de soul cuya música ha traspasado las barreras hasta volverse intemporal. Never can say good bye (1974) fue su primer éxito. Pero sin duda, I will survive es un verdadero himno para los corazones rotos. Se han hecho muchisimas versiones de este tema.

Mi ventaja fue que la música pop que musicalizó mi infancia me llevó a ser crítica con los sonidos que posteriormente consumí, por ello soy muy selectiva en materia musical. En cambio ahora, no hay música. Solo resta desempolvar los viejos LP y digitalizarlos. Es la mejor herencia para nuestros hijos.
